Meet the Principal

Dr. Samantha Gatzemeyer
Principal of Hagemann Elementary School
Dr. Samantha Gatzemeyer is the proud principal of Hagemann Elementary School. With 15 years of experience in education, she has dedicated her career to fostering vibrant, inclusive and student-centered learning communities where every child thrives academically, socially and emotionally.
Dr. Gatzemeyer began her journey in the Lindbergh District as a third-grade teacher at Sappington Elementary and Dressel Elementary, roles she held for 13 years. During this time, she honed her skills in differentiating instruction for diverse learners and building strong relationships with students, staff and families. She also served as a Grade Level Leader, piloting initiatives in data analysis and student assessment reflection. Dr. Gatzemyer joined the Mehlville family last year and served as Assistant Principal at Blades and Hagemann elementary schools, leveraging data to drive student growth and fostering a positive school culture, while also learning from two great leaders.
Academically, Dr. Gatzemeyer holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Maryville University, as well as a Master of Science in Curriculum and Assessment and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She is passionate about empowering teachers, engaging parents, and inspiring students to become lifelong learners, all while focusing on data-driven decision-making and innovative instructional practices.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, reading, and attending sporting events. She also enjoys traveling and exploring new places. Dr. Gatzemeyer is looking forward to all the new amazing opportunities to come this year!

Dr. Shelly Woodworth
Assistant Principal of Blades Elementary School
Dr. Shelly Woodworth joined Mehlville School District in July 2025 and brings more than 20 years of experience in education, along with a deep commitment to student growth, teacher development and strong family partnerships.
Dr. Woodworth began her career in 2002, and throughout her time in education has taught first, third, fourth, and fifth grades. She also served as a parent educator, working closely with families to support early learning. Before joining Mehlville, she worked for more than a decade as a reading interventionist, supporting students, coaching educators and leading professional learning.
She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University, a Master of Arts in Reading from Webster University, a Master of Science in Counseling from Lindenwood University, and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri–Columbia.
As a school leader, Dr. Woodworth values relationships, collaboration and cultivating a positive school culture where students and staff feel supported, valued and inspired. She is passionate about fostering a learning environment that encourages curiosity, growth and a strong sense of belonging for every child.
In her time outside of school, she cherishes moments with her family, often cheering on her three children in their various sports and activities. She also enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and remains dedicated to lifelong learning.
